The 1080 Credit BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma extends the specialist work-related focus from the Diploma and offers greater flexibility of units to cover. This is a 2-year course and is the equivalent of three GCE ‘A’ Levels.
Entry Requirements
Essential
Level 2 threshold (5 A*- C grades or equivalent) including a grade C or higher in Physical Education or BTEC Sport.
Desirable
An ‘B’ grade or equivalent in PE or BTEC Sport is advisable.

How Will I Be Assessed?
Assessment of each unit is done by completion of tasks set by subject teachers. These tasks have deadlines which learners are expected to meet. Each task is graded according to the grading criteria available for the task. These tasks may be word processed documents, oral presentations, or practical performances. Learners work is assessed internally by the subject teacher and the Lead Internal Verifier before final assessment is given. The overall grade of Pass, Merit or Distinction is given at the end of each unit – equivalent to E, C or A at ‘A’ Level.
Career Opportunities & Progression
Progression into College/University to study related courses. Careers in teaching, sports coaching and many areas in the leisure industry. Also useful for sports physiotherapy or work in the Police Force or Armed Forces as Physical Training Instructors (PTIs).
